Snap is an astray Dinobot affiliated with Team Prime on Earth. She transforms into a mechanical Sinosauropteryx. She's physically agile and has sharp claws that can leave serious damage on her opponents' armor, but she lacks strategic initiative and is often overly reliant on direct orders when not acting on impulse.
She is primarily tasked with gathering information, where her memory is considered unmatched. Her behavior is highly literal and she often struggles to interpret nuance and understand reasoning. Despite her limitations, she is intense when it comes to proving her value to her teammates. This drive frequently results in overcompensation through excessive study and rule adherence. Snap is particularly sensitive to perceived judgment from others, especially from figures of authority.

Prime cartoon
Snap was discovered and excavated beneath a glacial formation on Earth by the Autobots, following a scan indicating an unknown Cybertronian signal not belonging to the Decepticons or anyone on Team Prime. She had remained in stasis for several centuries and identified herself as a member of the tight-knit Dinobot sub-faction, although the circumstances of her separation from the group remained unclear.
Upon reactivation, Snap was integrated into Team Prime. Her recruitment was accompanied by several challenges, mainly stemming from cognitive limitations in abstract reasoning and improvisation. Initially, Snap showed enthusiasm and strict compliance with Autobot procedures. While her disability was not initially recognized as a point of concern, interpersonal tensions soon developed, resulting in repeated misunderstandings. Though Wheeljack provided occasional support, he rarely stuck around for long, leaving Snap without consistent friends, even when surrounded by allies. Over time, pressure to "make up for" her perceived shortcomings led her to withdraw socially. She took on a more meek and apologetic demeanor for the sake of fitting in with her team.
Snap was later captured by the Decepticons during an infiltration mission and held aboard the Nemesis. Though initially kept under surveillance, she was placed under the supervision of Predaking. Despite the hostility between the two factions, the two formed a bond over shared feelings of isolation and loss of their culture. The two beasts' interactions provided a framework for Snap to begin reworking her identity, particularly her insecurities surrounding her disability and Dinobot heritage. Unaware of being monitored by Megatron and Soundwave, the two continued their interaction. Megatron authorized Snap's limited freedom aboard the Nemesis as part of a larger, unspoken manipulation effort, aimed at either recruitment or extracting intelligence from the Dinobot. Snap and Predaking remained unaware of these ulterior motives. Her loyalty waned for a moment in response to true solidarity, but she knew where her true motives lied.
After her escape and return to the Autobots, Snap displayed notable changes in behavior and confidence. While these changes improved her stability, they also escalated underlying tensions with certain teammates. Optimus Prime acknowledged past oversights in the team's treatment of Snap, leading to a renewed effort to accommodate and support her individual needs.
Arcee - Ally + ???
"She's tough, brave, and smart. I think she doesn't like me much. Sometimes she looks at me like I'm in the way or like I'm too slow to keep up. But I want to be like her anyway. She always knows what to do. I try not to talk too much around her, because I think it annoys her. But I remember everything she says. I wish I could be useful enough that she'd talk to me more."
Optimus Prime - Ally + Leader
"He talks soft but carries a lot inside. I don't know what he really thinks of me but sometimes I think he believes in me more than I do. I don't understand all the things he says, but when he says "you did well," I feel like maybe I really did. I hope I'm not a waste of his time."
Ratchet - Ally
"Ratchet smells like a hospital, kind of creepy. He gets grumpy at everyone, so I don't take it personally. He says things like "useful recall" and "finally, some attention to detail," which I think means I did a good job. I help him organize supplies sometimes and I notice the way he sticks to my way of sorting. He knows a lot of things I want to learn."
Wheeljack - Ally
"He smiled when I broke a Vehicon's cannon with my claws. Called it "classic Dinobot stuff." That made my chest feel warm. I don't think he minds that I'm not good with plans, 'cause he doesn't really follow them either. That's kind of nice."

- You'd expect a Dinobot to be massive, but she's actually smaller than Arcee lmao. Ankle biter.
