Sinewave is a brilliant physicist serving the Decepticons. Despite spending most of her time working alongside Shockwave, the two couldn’t be any more different in terms of personality. She’s naturally very expressive and cheerful with an inability to stop yapping once she’s started.

A bit of a polarizing figure, as she’s well respected for her contributions to the Decepticon cause as a scientist but considered extremely annoying by most. She's more lonely than one might expect.

"Many times, I found myself wondering: in the heat of the moment, with my servo pressed just above your spark chamber... what would happen if I gave in to my curiosity and just pushed? Would Shockwave's anger be sated? Would your spilled blood earn you forgiveness?"

Aligned Continuity

Before officially pledging her loyalty to the Decepticon cause, Sinewave was a physicist whose work was unfortunately forced to a halt after her team lost the necessary funding to continue research on their projects. Despite her brilliance and prestige in her field, opportunities were scarce, forcing her into a volatile job hunt until she landed a bottom-of-the-barrel maintenance job in the pits of Kaon—tending to the injuries of surviving gladiators, as well as other unethical experiments under Shockwave's orders. She felt this position was an insult to her skills, but inability to find work elsewhere kept her here, underpaid and undervalued for the abysmal work conditions of the arena. At the very least, she picked up an interest in weapons engineering and biology while working under Shockwave, though she isn't officially licensed to be working in either field.

Sinewave developed a close friendship with Soundwave and his minicons during this time, initially sparked by her curiosity at the idea of a former council member suffering under similar circumstances—and, upon further observation, finding his living armor and fighting style fascinating. She treasured the gladiator deeply, but her romantic feelings would go unspoken due to Sinewave's unaddressed gender dysphoria. When Megatron made his ambitions known, besting Soundwave in combat and recruiting him for the Decepticon cause, Sinewave offered her scientific skills, yearning to contribute to Megatron's promise to bring forth change after being tossed aside to rust and starve in the pits of Kaon.

Though war is never easy, Sinewave's life took another dark turn when she and Shockwave became trapped on a ruined Cybertron, having only one another for company while working on Project Predacon and various other experiments. Shockwave's intolerance for distractions- particularly her tendency to talk incessantly- led him to silence her through painful and damaging methods, such as electrocution. Over time, this resulted in significant brain damage, leaving her with chronic migraines and memory issues. However, Shockwave refused to kill her, as having a partner of equal intelligence as him exponentially increased productivity within the lab, enough for him to view letting her go as completely illogical.

The successful resurrection of Predaking during Project Predacon provided great comfort to Sinewave throughout these difficult times, as the clone was eager to return her affection and longing for interaction while the three remained isolated in the lab. Sinewave considered Predaking's existence the only good thing thing to come out of Shockwave's experiments and treasured him dearly, even before he revealed the extent of his intelligence.

When the two scientists reunited with the rest of the Decepticons many years later, Sinewave had changed drastically. Much of Shockwave's cruelty had come to a halt, but being practically tortured had left expected scars on his partner. Sinewave was no longer the bright scientist the world had once known but a quieter, more reserved individual. She refused to seek out repairs aboard the Nemesis, fearing that accidentally revealing her abuse during her time with Shockwave would result in consequences for him. She found that the only things capable of treating her unbearable migraines were near-lethal amounts of painkillers, much to Knockout's concern- and especially to her best friend, Soundwave, who had been separated from her for so long, only to find her like this. The two formed an unlikely team effort to try and draw information out of her regarding the situation.

With a doctor's order and subsequent approval from Megatron, Knockout and Soundwave more or less dragged her away from Shockwave's side to help her recover from the withdrawal symptoms after performing surgery on her damaged processor. Knockout would also take her under his wing, as her skills were of great value– even if he can't exactly deploy her to work on surgeries with him. He just needed to make sure she was kept far from her former partner. The road to recovery seemed mostly positive until the war came to a halt, and Shockwave once again took her by force to continue working on Project Predacon within various hidden labs scattered across Cybertron.

The final face-off against Unicron was accompanied with Shockwave's unexplained disappearance, leaving Sinewave to rot alone in one of the abandoned labs. For a long time, she remained in stasis mode, only awakened when Predaking found her in a near-dead state after a conversation between him, Skylynx, and Darksteel revealed what she'd been up to for a brief period of time after the war. Unable to bear the thought of Sinewave living on but not being a part of his life in some way, Predaking tracked her down and brought her to the mountains he'd been residing in alongside Rusty and his Predacons. Furthermore, she possessed the knowledge necessary to awakening newly uncovered clutches of Predacon clones that had yet to complete the incubation process.

Shockwave - Lab Partner

"Working with Shockwave is an honor, really, even if I... well, I have a habit of getting on his nerves. I know I talk too much, and I know he doesn't like distractions, so it makes sense he had to teach me to be quiet. He wouldn't have kept me around if I wasn't useful, and that means something, doesn't it?"

Soundwave - Friend

"He listens- really listens- even when I ramble, and it's nice to not feel like a nuisance for once. He's not much of a talker, but I don't mind. His presence is enough, steady and quiet, and understanding Soundwave is like listening to a song only I can hear. I don't think I deserve him, but I hope he sticks around anyway."

Predaking - Familial

"When Predaking awakened for the first time in Shockwave's lab, we had no proof he was fully sapient. So I did what any curious scientist might: I spoiled him. I spoiled him really rotten. Energon treats, endless fussing, and yes, probably too much gushing and cooing over an ancient beast with unmatched hunting capabilities. He transformed and spoke for the first time during an incident with Starscream, and I was mortified to realize I'd been babying a grown mech with complex thoughts and dignity all along. Talk about awkward!"

"Thankfully, he didn't seem to mind, continuing to seek me out long after that revelation like nothing happened. Being around Predaking, so devastatingly powerful yet soft spoken and protective, is one of few things keeping me afloat. I love him more than anything in the universe."
